    M. dubia Propagation

Hmmmm, I think just patience and regular care is the key. Monsteras I think are known for being slow rooters? (might be wrong about that) I've found with most things houseplant I need a *wee* bit more patience, it's one of the things plants are teaching me :giggle:. I like the water method best...

    Managing your collection

I do similar to @Pumpkinspice. Every sunday I do the plant rounds and check in on all my babies. Water as needed, make notes (mental usually, but often write things down too so I won't forget to check again the following week). In the summer, I have to do Wed and Sun, because it's warmer outside...

    Best slow-release ferts

I use Joyful Dirt. But honestly I don't even fertilize that often. Only if the plants are looking super sad. I make sure I repot every year or two so the soil gets refreshed and kinda leave it at that. Maybe not the best plant parenting but it's working!

    Anyone know this plant?

I just did an image search with google lens and it came up Aeonium arboreum. It's a succulent! https://hort.extension.wisc.edu/articles/aeonium/

How'd you get started with houseplants?

I was given a few houseplants as gifts and because I cared about the people who gave them, I cared a lot for the plants too. Then, I started acquiring my own, and the rest they say, is history and here I am, talking and thinking about plants all the time

    Howdy hey

Yeah I need to do that cost analysis, whether it would work for my plant setup. It might be a better option...just had some initial sticker shock!

    Winter shipping?

I'm in New Hampshire, so I understand the cold problem! Frosty nights and warm days --- I don't trust any plant delivery at this time. Even if the seller does everything right, the post office might still be slow or backed up, especially around the holidays. I hate that I can't order at this...

    Where do you buy plants?

Oooooh, they have a huge selection. And carnivorous plants too. This place could be trouble (in a good way!). Does anyone else have experience with them? They seem pretty good?

    Houseplant-adjacent hobbies?

Let's see, besides houseplant adoration and obsession, I like board games (like strategy games), reading, going for super long walks/hikes, and vegetable and flower gardening

    Houseplant-adjacent hobbies?

I was just listening to a podcast about soil LOL, so weird. I think it was on In Defense of Plants. I didn't know it was a thing until I listened to the person talking about. But of course, it makes sense. Soil health is uber super duper extraordinarily important!

    Howdy hey

Huh, learn something new all the time. I also have problems with light, mostly in the winter. I looked up quantum boards and they look great, but wow, a little pricey (for me anyways)... Does anyone have other ideas for increasing light? Or better (more efficient) grow lights to get?

    Philodendron red sun

OMG I've never seen that before. Now I totally need one too. Do the leaves really stay that red??? I like the idea of it climbing a moss pole too, or if you have any beams or something in your place, let it trail along them. My sister did that with her "normal" philodendron and it looks fabulous.

    Whale Fin Sansevieria?

Yeah, I've only seen them on etsy too. Maybe a local nursery can order one for you? My local houseplant store will try to find specific plants if I ask, although they're not always able to

    String of Turtles question

I've never heard of this either, but I just did a quick google search and the images looked like the turtle shell leaves really vary in size. At least, that's what it looked like. Can you share an image of your SOT?

    Where do you buy plants?

Yeah, I prefer this too but when I have something particular in mind, I don't want to drive a few hours only to find out they don't have it 😭. When I'm "just browsing" (LOL), I love local nurseries and facebook marketplace
